We collect as little about you as we can. There are no tracking cookies, no advertising network, and no account to sign up for. Here's what does happen when you visit.
When you visit the site
Product to Know is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. To serve pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page addresses you request, and the time of each request. Some of this appears in short-lived technical logs we use to fix problems and keep the site secure.
The public site doesn't set cookies for visitors, and we don't use advertising networks or tracking pixels.
Visitor statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics and other analytics tools to count visits and see which pages people read, how quickly they load, and which sites send us visitors. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't fingerprint your device, and doesn't follow you across other websites. We only see totals, never information that identifies you.
Broken-link log
When someone requests a page that doesn't exist, our system records the address requested, the referring page, the browser type, and the IP address. We use this only to find and fix broken links, keep it only as long as it takes, and clear it regularly.
Site search
Your search terms are sent to our server to find matching articles. Because they're part of the page address, they can appear in the technical logs described above. We don't build profiles from searches or link them to you.
Affiliate links
If you click an affiliate link and visit a seller's site, that seller or its affiliate network may set cookies or collect information under its own privacy policy. We don't control that processing, so check their policy if it matters to you.
Many of our affiliate links go through short addresses on our own site (producttoknow.com/go/x-affiliate-link). When you click one, we count the click: which link, which of our pages it was on, and the day. We don't record who clicked.
Our newsletter
If you sign up for our newsletter, we store your first name, email address, the niches you picked, and the dates you signed up, confirmed, or unsubscribed. We use them only to email you when we publish a new article in those niches. Nothing is sent until you confirm your address through the link in our confirmation email.
Every email has an unsubscribe link that works with one click. When you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you and keep only the record that you unsubscribed. To have your details deleted completely, contact us.
Our emails are sent through Resend, an email delivery service based in the United States. Resend processes your name and email address only to deliver our emails and to tell us whether they were delivered, under its own privacy policy.
When you contact us
If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you write. Messages from the form are stored in our content management system and forwarded to our inbox through Resend. We use them only to reply and to fix what you report, and we delete them when we no longer need them, or sooner if you ask.
Article feedback
If you tell us whether an article was helpful, we store only the article and the running yes/no totals, not who voted; your browser remembers that you voted, so you aren't asked again. If you report a mistake, we store your report and, if you give us your email address, we email the report to ourselves.
Spam protection
Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is sending them. To do that, Cloudflare processes technical information from your browser and device; it says it doesn't use this for advertising. To stop floods of submissions, we also keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for up to an hour after you send a form.
People who write for us
Product testers, SMEs, writers, and editors have accounts in our content management system. We process their name, email address, sign-in credentials (such as passkeys), and activity records to give them secure access.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how we use it. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. To make a request, contact us through the Contact page.
Changes to this policy
When our practices change, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
